The Flights and Arrival UK

27/05 Durban to Johannesburg and so on
King Chaka Airport was quite impressive, a definite improvement on the old airport. The staff were very efficient and helpful. Of course, us being "old-timers", you know, we didn't understand the e-ticket scenario, but the guy that booked us in was very patient and explained in simple English, the procedure that we need to follow.......Wow so far it has worked which makes me think that new technology has done RIGHT!
Kim, Paul and the Rugrats spent a couple of hours with us in Johannesburg until our next flight which left at 21:45 to Cairo. Of course Bradley wanted to climb in the suitcase.
Hmmm............... Sleeping on the plane - Hey that DON'T work!!!! Bum gets very numb, back gets awfully sore, legs get pins 'n needles. We survived though! I didn't have a cigarette the whole flight - Oh what a good girl am I? Frank took his E-Cig with him and would act like a school boy sneaking a fag! Next minute he would start coughing and I would start giggling!
28/05 Cairo
Everything we could see seemed to be sand coloured, even the buildings! Customs and security checks in Cairo were a pain! They would not let us take our EMPTY water bottles on the plane. Frank had a brand new box of razor blades (unopened) which they confiscated plus his lighter. They then searched my hand luggage for some strange looking object that showed up on the machine but they couldn't find anything so eventually let me go.
We flew on a 777-300 to London. Mmmmm that is a lekker plane. I even got to play computer games when I got bored looking at clouds.
We landed at Heathrow 10 minutes late but the security checks were the worst! It took us simply ages to get out of the airport.
Finally we made it to the car and we set off with Russell to Swindon. Wow traffic on highway - Johannesburg highway the same! Ugh!
Time seemed to lose all perspective. We had gained and then lost time or something like that and then of course the sun goes down at ridiculous hours here - somewhere around 21:30. I was totally lost the first day! - But then we had also been awake for somewhere around 40 hours. Hey ole-fogeys don't know about things like that!
29/05 Rainy & miserable
We went driving around Aylesbury, Chippenham, Walton Basset and Devizers. What beautiful countryside even in the rain. Of course we had to check the houseboats on the canal in Devizers. I got chatting to an elderly couple who live on their boat permanently. The wife reckons she has divorced the old man about six times already. It definitely is a very different way of life!
Ok I am going now so I can explore some more. Talk to you all later.....................
